The curators of the  Australian Dress Register  online collection have supplied some lovely promotional postcards to be given out at the Winter Fair for those interested in preservation.  They describe the function of the aims the Register intends to achieve, and also show an image of an 1885 – 1890 woman’s cotton drill corset with pretty trims.  Where to access the register and how to make contact is on the postcard, and is also listed below.  So don’t discard that heirloom item of clothing thinking it is worthless, as pre-1945 well provenanced pieces that tell their own story are considered valuable pieces for documentation and research, Australia wide.  Use the link below to search the Register, which is a fascinating experience in itself and shows the collective cultural heritage in clothing shared by everyone.
